Lunar New Year is the Chinese festival that celebrates the New Year on the traditional Chinese calendar. It was believed that it originated in the Shang Dynasty (1600-1046 BC) and has a 3,000-year history. The festival is referred to as the Spring Festival in mainland China. It takes place from New Year's Eve to the Lantern Festival which is the 15th day of the year. We will be celebrating the Year of the Rat on Feb 8, 2020, at Upper Canada Mall. There are performances and cultural activities such as craft, calligraphy, food tasting and dumpling-making demonstrations all through the day.
大多北部地区2020鼠年新春庆典活动介绍
为庆祝中国农历新年、十二生肖之首的鼠年，2020年2月8日在多伦多北部最大的购物中心Upper Canada Mall将举行盛大的新春联欢活动。正在筹划的文艺表演节目有：中华传统舞狮舞龙、中外歌曲独唱合唱、民乐演奏、民族舞蹈、旗袍汉服秀、青少年舞蹈、京剧清唱、瑜伽、武术表演、茶道等。 在以家庭快乐幸福生活为主题的表演环节中，北部村民自发组成的快乐家庭T台秀、儿童合唱等将是主要内容。在浓重的中华文化传统的氛围中，观众可以参与书法写作、传统工艺品欣赏、品尝中国美食、包饺子等活动。 活动中还将有丰富的礼品抽奖。 这次的新春庆祝活动必将吸引大量的当地华人和西人朋友参加，为加拿大多元文化的建设和发展做出重要贡献！
此次活动由北部华人社区主要微信群、108健康促进会、Upper Canada Mall及当地居民志愿者主办，得到了各级政府的支持。届时，市长、副市长、联邦议员和各区议员们将参加开幕式， 发表讲话并欣赏文艺演出。 演员主要来自于Newmarket、Aurora、East Gwillimbury、Georgina、Bradford、Markham 及Richmond Hill等北部华人社区。
